The Cheyenne-class was a series of heavy cruisers used by the Federation in the 24th and early 25th centuries. Its design was inspired by the Galaxy-class of vessels, and was one of a handful of Starfleet starships to include more than two warp nacelles. The class was first tried in earnest at the Battle of Wolf-359, where the USS Ahwahnee was destroyed by the Borg. The vessel was salvaged afterward and proved to be a solid design, so the class endured. Cheyenne-class vessels still serve as heavy cruisers in Starfleet today.
